About FoundEtc

Built by people who believe secondhand should be the first choice.

Our Story

FoundEtc started with a simple frustration: incredible secondhand inventory exists everywhere, estate sales, resale booths, flea markets, but almost none of it is easy to find, price, or catalog. The people running these businesses know their inventory inside and out. What they didn't have was a fast way to turn a house full of items, or a booth full of finds, into something organized, priced, and ready to sell.

That's the gap FoundEtc set out to close. Not by replacing the expertise of the people who do this work every day, but by handling the tedious part, cataloging, so they can spend their time on the part that actually needs a human eye.

Why We're Here

We believe the world doesn't need more stuff, it needs the stuff we already have to find its way to the next person who'll actually use it. Every item that sells secondhand is one less item manufactured new, and one less item sent to the landfill. FoundEtc was created to make secondhand easier to discover while supporting the local shops, vendors, and marketplaces that make it special. As FoundEtc grows and more secondhand items are inventoried using our intuitive set of tools, we aim to build the first unified, searchable platform for secondhand goods wherever they are physically being sold.

A Small, Independent Team

FoundEtc is built by a small, independent team. We're founder-led, and we build for the people actually using FoundEtc every day. We exist to support the circular economy.

A Note from Nate

Founder of FoundEtc

I've always loved wandering through flea markets and secondhand shops. As a kid, I have distinct memories of setting up a booth at our local outdoor flea market with my dad, then wandering the rows of vendors for hours, finding baseball cards, yard games, and comic books.

But over time I noticed something. So many incredible items sit inside local shops, booths, and markets, yet they're almost impossible to find unless you happen to walk past the right place at the right time.

At the same time, today's shoppers are used to searching for what they want and instantly knowing where to go.

That's when I came up with the simple idea: what if secondhand could be just as searchable, while still keeping the local, personal experience that makes it special?

That's our north star. Today we're building tools for professional resellers. Tomorrow we're building the unified search experience for secondhand goods.
